Farmer's Club for Birmingham

,w —^-~~~ ■'. A well attended meeting of farmers and others residing in this district, was held on Tuesday at Mr Guy's for the purpose of forming a Farmers Club. Mr. Ferguson in the chair, who explained the various reasons why a club was necessary and the subjects which would come before its members. It was proposed by Mr Morton, seconded by Mr Burnes, That the club should be formed. — Carried. Mr Morton was elected chairman, Mr Tolley (senr.) vice-chairman, [Mr; Fergusson hon. secretary, Mr R. Burnes treasurer. The nest meeting will be on the 26th instant, to be held at the school-room." A vote of thanks was given to Mr Fergusson for his services as convener of the meeting; also, to Mr Guy for the use of the room. The subscription was fixed at the moderate sum of 5s per annum— two members of one family residing under the same roof 7s 6d, 8 members 10s, farmers sons under 18 free. The proposed club will be a great 'acquisition to the district as besides farming subjects to be brought under discussion, the committee will seek to obtain official papers suitable for the club, also a supply of periodicals will be available for the use of the members. We wish the proposed club every success—^persons wishing to become members can send in their names to Mr Fergnsson or to any of the office bearers. '■
