Band of Hope
The ladies of the W.C.T.U. must be congratulated on the successful meeting held in the Foresters Hall last night, when fully 150 children were present. The Rev H. M. Murray presided. The hymn, "Onward Christian Soldiers " was the first item on the programme. Misses Ida Haybittle and Rosina Siegel recited " The child and the swallow " in a pleasing manner, and recitations by Masters Alec. Giesen, Archie Black, and Misses Sophia Siegel, and Lily Thompson were all capitally given. Two action songs by a number of small children were really well sung, and Mrs Lissaman deserves great credit for the excellent training which the children exhibited. A collection was made, the object being to provide funds for a children's picnic which is to be held some time during the summer. The chairman announced that the next meeting will be held on the 28th instant, and practices are to take place in the Primitive Church every alternate Monday. A large number of children signed f the roll during the evening, and evidently the parents of Feilding are determined to inculcate the advantages of total ahstinence from alcohol upon their ohildren.
