Aratiki
On Saturday afternoon last a meeting of the ladies was held in the Araitki school room, Midland road, to arrange for a tea meeting to be given to the scholars as soon as the new school building is passed by the Architect of the Education Board, Mr Atkins. About ten were present at the time appointed, two o'clock namely, Mesdamei Allerby, senr. Cornwall, Bell, Nicholas, Hislop, Curran, Boyd, Donalson, Gray. Apologizes were received from Mesdames Lynch, and Gold finch. After the usual formalities Mrs Allerby was appointed to preside. Resolved, That each one should contribute a certain amount of the tea and provisions at their own discretion. Resolved, That the children attending the Spur Road school be invited. A resolution was proposed that some amusement be provided in the evening of the tea meeting, but after some discussion it was decided to leave that part of the programme in the hands of the . gentlemen. After arranging all necessary preliminaries the meeting adjourned. Our reporter informs us that the whole affair was business like and creditable, and he is now more in favor of Woman's Franchise than ever.
