' (pee press association.) London, September 29. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,908,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,028.---000 quarters. The cargo of wheat ex Portia, from Lyttelton, was sold privately. At the wool sales prices barley remain steady. At the wool sales competition is brisn and spirited at late rates. New Zealand 4 per cent inscribed stock, 105 f : 3i do.. 95.}. New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, firm at 32s 6d. Wellington frozen mutton, 3fd per lb. New Zealand hemp shows a further advance of 15s per ton ; fair to medium quality is quoted at L 23 per ton. Barley, 24s 6d. Oats— Fine quality, 2Bs ; common, 24s 9d. Beans, 35s 6d. At the wool sales to-day & very poor selection Mas offered. The competition, howeyer, was good, and prices remain unchanged.
