Meeting at Colyton

.:. ■ ♦ A committee meeting of tbe Onslow Farm Homestead Association was held at Colyton last Saturday, at 3 o'clock. Mr D. Hughey was in the chair. The secretary read the minutes of the previons meetings to show the resolution, " That friends could draw together." The principal object of the meeting was to pass transfers. The Commissioner of Lands had sent notice that all forms of declaration must be returned to him within 14 days from the 14th September, or if not the names will be struck off the list. Thirteen transfers were submitted' and passed by the committee. The withdrawal and transfer forms will then be sent to Wellington, and if approved by the Commissioner the last stage of the performance commences, a declaration of lease being issued which' entitles the fortunate holder to 200 acres of Government land for everr-or" until the times do alter." On the motion of- Mr Martin, seconded by Mr R. Robinson, the secretary was instructed to send the following method of balloting to the Commissioner for his approval :— Tickets to'be cut of a uniform size and placed in a covered jar, and to be drawn out by a disinterested party, names only to be placed on the tickets, the plan to be numbered from 1 to 55 (55 members); The first name drawn out takes No> 1 section, and is marked on the plan by the. committee. If two friends' names are. .on the first ticket that is drawn from the jar, sections' i and 2 are given ; the next name^ drawn takes No. 8, and so on in regular order. ! Very conflicting reports are circulated regarding the quality of this block; Thdse 1 wbb have been on it say that it is about the same as the Marton Block, which joins, and the Marton people are. Very well satisfied. The Commissioner promised that, the survey- of thejOnslow would be commenced as soon as the Marton 20,000 acres were out of hand. They have been finished about six weeks. However much is done towards, the completion of the survey, it is pretty well evident that very little, if any, bushfelling will be done this season. The secretary -stated that the balance in hand was £6 8s 2d. .
