Pohangina Road Board
The first meeting of the above , Board was held at Mr Goodbehere's office this day. Present — Messrs Lucas, Burton, Arbon, Dicken, and Richards. Mr Arbon proposed and Mr Burton seconded, That Mr Lucas be appointed i chairman. Mr Lucas returned thanks for the honor done him, and he took the chair. The following correspondence was received : — From the Rangitikei Advocate,, soliciting the Board's advertising. From the Palmers ten Standard, soliciting a share of the Board's advertising. From Lands and Survey Department, re road through block 7. . From the Chairman of the Separation Committee, Ashurst, stating that their Committee did not intend to take any further steps in this question owing to the opposition from the Ward ratepayers. From Lands and Survey Department, stating that Section 2, Block 11. Gorge had been selected by Mr J. Hopkirk of Shannon. From the Rangitikei Advocate, forwarding advertising account for £4 15s 6d. From C. A. W, Hunt, forwarding his account for £Q 15s for felling road line. Resolved, That Messrs Lucas and Dickin, interview Mr Hopkins, and find out definitely which is the drain in question, and make the necessary arrangements. Resolved, That the Secretary be instructed to.write to the Colonial Secretary, drawing his attention to an error in the boundary of No 3 Ward, as advertised in the Gazette, the said boundary being stated as going towards the east by the said summit for a distance of six miles, . whereas the eastern boundary should be the Pohangina river. Resolved, That Marsh and Connolly's claim of 22s for clearing slips off London . road be held over for further information . of the work having been done. Resolved, That the proportion of Mr A. 1 A. Brown's rates paid on land not held by > him be refunded when the money is received from the Eiwitea Road Board. Resolved, That the secretary be instructed to apply for the schedule of the , whole of the thirds due to the Pohangina ' Road Board District. ■ : ' Resolved, That the secretary write to 1 the Commissioner of Crown Lands, ask- ' ing him to furnish the Board with the amount of thirds available on the road leading from the Oroua river to tbe Feilding Block, as the Board intend to complete this road forthwith. 1 Resolved, That the secretary write to ! the Colonial Secretary informing him chat this Board intends to apply for a loan of I £6000 to extend over a period of two ■ years. , ■-■■. ■ Resolyed, That the secretary apply to ' the Surveyor-General for a map of the ' Pohangina Road Board District, same as the Commissioner of Crown Lands has, with deferred payment sections marked thereon, the Board to pay for the same. .: Resolved, That Messrs Copithorne and ' Etherington be informed that the Board ' intend to apply for a loan, and that a pro- ' portion of the same will be spent in giv- > ing access to their properties. Resolved, That tenders be invited for the joint position of Secretary and Engin- > eer at per year ; tenders to be in by the Bth of October. Resolved, That the Board's advertising > be given to the Rangitikei Advocate and 1 the Manawatu Times. t Resolved, That Mr E. Goodbehere be authorised to procure the necessary books > and stationery required by the 80ard, .... . > Resolved, That the Board hold its • meetings on the 2nd Saturday in each > month at 11 a.m. at Feilding, until the ! accounts between this Board and the Eiwitea Road Board are settled, after that • time the meetings to be held where the i Board agree upon.
