{We are not responsible for the opinions of our correspondents.} MYSELF-ATS-DEVEBELL. TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir,— Who would have thought it? Mr Deverell, who I have all along thought to be connected with the leather trade and consequently having a selfish interest in the protection of boots by means of | heavy Customs duties, actually turns out i to be a real live author — that is if he is the author of " Deverell's Remarks on which he quotes (and from the language used in the quotation it seems pretty clear that he is the author' of it)i $Vhat a pity it is he has not given us the name of the publisher of that work and the number of volumes it cohsistsV&Wto afford us the opportunity of procuring a copy which would perhaps enable us to translate the language , of his; published letters, and that my " comprehension as -far as it goes " would be able to make his " meanings " intelligible. Under the circumstances however I shall have to hide my diininished'head by letting judgment go by default and abide by the consequences. I am, etc., * • : 1 '■■ Saml. Goodbeheee,
