Messrs Lowes and lorns stock sale reports as follows : — We had a good entry of all classes of stock on the 10th, and buyers were numerous, thus ensuring brisk competition throughout. Late rates were firmly maintained with more aniinathan has characterised the sales for some months past, which may perhaps be adcounted for to some extent by the appearance of spring and the consequent evidences of abundant feed. Beef was in fair supply, quality not first-class. Matton was scarce with good demand. Store cattle sold well and the same may be said of sheep, prices of the latter ruling higher and topping the market for the season. Beef realised 18s to 20s par 100 lb for cows and bullocks respectively. In dairy cows, the quality being inferior the prices suffered a slight decline, other kinds of cattle fully maintaing late rates, with a hardening tendency. Fat wethers light and inferior quality brought 16/6 ; store wethers from 12/8 to 13/6; ewes "and lamb*, 13/- to 15/9 ; hoggets from 6/6 for inferior to 12/11 for a nice line of 500, which bore evidence of having been well wintered ; merino store wethers, 6/6 ; the demand for pigs i» still weak.
