A match ucder Association rules was played on the Oval yesterday afternoon. the game which was rather one-eided anded in the defeat of the visitors by five goals to nil. The visitors turned up four men short, but able substitutes were found in Messrs Qibson, Hayne, and Nossiter. The local team were too heavy for their opponents, and had considerably the best of the game, especially in the second spell when playing with the wind. Only one goal was scored in the first spell which was disallowed, as the spectators interfered with the goalkeeper. The goals were scored by Rushton, J. 0. Hare, G. 0. Hare, McFarlane and Hill. For the visitors, Stone, Andrews, Gardiner, Richardson, and Mackinnon played well. For the home team the backs played a good game, especially Rushton, J. C. Hate, while Daniell plajed a splendid game for the forwards and was well backed up by Felton and McFarlane. The Wellington team were Stone, Hayne, Andrews, Richardson, Mackinnon, Gar» diner, Higginson, Otherson, Gibson, and Nossiter. The Oroua team were Robinson (goal), Rushton. and G. C. Hare (backs), J. C. Hare, Grey, andMatravers (£ backs), C. L. Daniell. Hall, Felton, McFarlane, Armstrong (forwards). Messrs Straohan and Love joy acted as umpires. The attendance was fair considering that the weather was cold.
