Feilding R.M. Court

♦- The following case was heard after we went to press on Thursday afternoon. A. Goldfinch sued I*. Linder, for the sum ot £5 Is 6d, value of a quantity of grass seed sold to the defendant in January last. Mr Sandilands appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Prior for the defendant. There were no witnesses in the case, and it was simply a question as to whether plaintiffs or defendant's version of the transaction was to be relied on. His Honor in deliyering judgment, commented on the absence of defendant's witness, a man named Richards, and gave a verdict for the amount claimed £5 Is 6d, with costs 41s, and counsel's fee 21s. Friday, August 19. (Before Messrs C. Bull and W. G. Haybittle J.P.'s. Rasmus Neilson, of Halcombe, was charged on the information of his wife having used threatening language towards her, namely, to kill her and smash her brains out, on the 9ch instant. Mr Richmond appeared for the complainant, Mrs Neilson. The accused in answer to the charge, pleaded not guilty, and stated he had only been served with the summons on the Thursday night previous, and asked for an adjournment so as he might call evidence in defence. Mr Richmond stated the difficulty was that the complainant was in bodily fear of returning to her home, until the accused had been dealt with, on account of her husband's violence. An adjournment until Monday next was finally agreed to, on the defendant paying the costs.
