— ♦- The Wellington branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows on tbe produce markets for the week ending Wednesday, 3rd, August, 1892:— Wool.— Latest cable advices are in the direction of improved prospects for this staple, the Bralford trade showing in crensed activity. Throughout the last aeries there was a want of life on the part of Home buyers, except for special clips. On Ibe whole returns are equal to our expectations, but it is indisputable that as a whole those who sold in the colonial markets haye this year come off best. Frozen Meat —We haye received the following cablegram from our London office, viz. :— ' There is a better lone in the mutton market. Canterbury mutton is worth 4d per lb, Wellington mutton 3|d. Tbe lamb market Is firm, Canter* bury being worth sfd per lb. New Zealand beef, hindquarters, is worth 3ydper lb. and forequarters 2|d per lb' Fowl Wheat. — A fair business is passing at 2s 8d to 2s 9d for good whole sprouted wheat. Oats.—Tbere does not appear to be anj change in the Southern . markets ; if anything, they are firmer at late rates We quote good short feed at 2s to 2s Id and seed varieties 2s 3d to 2s 9d per bushel. ' Grass Seeds.— The demand is now setting in for spring sowing. We quote Southern machine dressed at 4s 3d, Poverty Bay 6s to 6* «d, Pncey's perennial (imported) np to ss. There is a good demand for cocksfoot.
