Ashurst-Pohangma Racing Club

A meeting of the committee of the above club was held on Saturday evening at the Ashurst Hotel. Mr J. Cotter in the chair. ! The report of the outgoing committee having been read by the Secretary showed that the club are to be congratulated on the success which has attended their first year s work. The following is the balance sheet which shows a nice credit balance to begin the future year with. Receipt*— Members subscriptions, £28 17s 6d ; donations to ground fund, £13 Us 9d; nominations, £25 17s; acceptances, £35 15s ; proceeds of privileges, £71 7s; fines, £5 ; totahsator commission, £185 10s 6d; training fees, £1 9s; total, £367 7s 9d. Expenditure— Amount paid in stakes, £140 ; amount paid on course improvements, £84 4s 9d ; printing and advertising, £18 18s ; totalisator tax, £26 18s 2d ; handicapper, £10 10s ; secretary, £10 sa ; sundries, £45 19s 9d ; balance in bank, L3O 12s Id; total, £367 7s 9d. The adoption of the report ond balance sheet was moved by Mr Cotter and seconded by Mr C. Hunt, and carried unan- \ imously. j The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted in the following gentlemen being duly elected : — President, J. Cotter ; vice-president, Wm. Akers, Esq. ; judge, J. Cotter ; clerk of scales, Mr S. T. Hunt; handicapper, Mr J. Henry; starter, Mr C. A. W. Hunt ; timekeeper, Mr H. W. Havbittle ; secretary, Mr J. S. Freeman; treasurer, Mr G. Humble; clerk of course, Mr W. J. Cornford. Stewards : Messrs Cotter, C. A. W. Hunt Betemeyer, Ward, Couchie, S. Hunt, D. Woodham. Committee : Messrs ■C. A. W. Hunt, Ward, S.
