*. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) London, June 18. At the wool sales there is tair competition in all sections. Trade prices are hardly maintained, especially in cross breds. The total number of bales catalogued up to date has reached 154,600, ot which 144,000 have been sold. Good combing wool is in demand at the auction sales at full rates.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, (Limited), have received the following cable message, dated London, 24th inst. :— Frozen meat — Mutton market unchanged ; lamb market weaker; prime New Zealand lambs are worth, per carcase, s:}d per lb. Beef "market quiet ; forcquarters are worth 2£d per lb, quotation nominal ; hindquarters are worth 3£d per lb. Tallow—Market easier ; gorid.beetTcwi fine mutton tallow is worth 24s 3d and 26s per cwt respectively, 4
