» I FROM OUK OWN COKRESPONDENT. j A meeting of the School Committee was held on the 11th when the following members were present : — Messrs, Burton, (in the chair), CumuaeL-field, Osborne, and Mackenzie. It was resolved to make au application to the Education Board for a teacher as the school is now nearly finished. Building has been brisk in here for some time, four lots of carpenters being at work. Mr B. Gange has shifted his family into the Block on Saturday, and he was unfortunate enough to find his draught horse dead in the paddock yesterday. He refused £25 pounds for it a few days since. We have had a lot of rain here during the last fortnight and the snow this morning was about one inch thick. Several sections have changed bands lately at satisfactory prices. If they keep on at the present rate there will soon be 1 yery few left of the original selectors. Canvassing for Messrs Bruce, and Stevens has been active lately. Mr Bruce is evidently favorite. -.-...-.■ There are very few pigeons this year.
