« The following correspondence published in the Advocate will be of interest to our readei-6 : — " Sir,— For the benefit of those interested kindly insert in your valuable and widely circulated paper, the following letter I have just received, •which I con- j sider sufficient proof that the meetings, ! correspondence, and deputations have not ! been altogether useless as many supposed the result would be. By so doing you will oblige. — Yours truly, " F. Horneb.
" General Survey Office, "Wellington, May 5, 1892. 11 Sir,— With reference to your letter of the 23rd April, on the subject of the above mentioned roads, addressed to the Hon. the Premier, I am now directed by the Minister of Lands to inform you that the Government will agree to finish the work of metalling the Kimbolton road north of Peep o' Day, through the Peraberton Special Settlement, at a cost of £500, and will also contribute half the cost of gravelling the whole distance between the Feilding Settlement and the Kimbolton road, say six miles, cost £960, of which the Government will contribute £480. If the local authority is willing to undertake the work on the terms stated, they should apply in the usual manner, so that the necessary forms of agreement may be prepared. — I have the honour to be, Sir, your obedient servant.
