The restaurant kept bj M. Very, who was the chief witness against ftavachol, the Anarchist leader, has been wrecked by dynamite. The place was the aoene of Ravachol's arrest, hence the outrage. Very was found amid the rums of the building with his legs smashed. He was taken to the hospital, where his limbs were found to be so mangled that they bad to be amputated, but the poor fellow did uot survive the operation. Four other inmatos of the restaurant, including Yery's twelve-year-old granddaughter, were also severely injured, and were removed to the hospital. The bomb wan placed in the cellar of the building. Many people who happened to be passing the restaurant at the time the explosion occurred were injured by the falling debris. Three arrests have already been made in the connection of the outrage. The terrible affair had such an effeot on Very's wife that she has completely lost her reason. Chirot, a waiter at the restaurant, reports that three men, after dining., left suddenly, the men depositing a parcel under the table, one of them holding a match underneath as it to avoid the va. pour of the lucifer. After the trial had proceeded for some hours Knrachol, with the utmost cool ness, informed the Magistrate that he was guilty of the charges brought against him, adding that he personally loaded and deposited the bombs, and that the outrages wcrp intended to strike terror among the citizens, and to draw the attention of the public to the wrongs suffered by the lower classes in France. April 27. In reply to a question by the Judge, Rnrnchol declared that he thought he was acting lawfully in the cause he adopted, and he expressed a hope that lie would be forgiven for his crime. The jury, who were absent an hour and a half, brought in a verdict of guilty against Ramchol and Simon, but re commended them to the mercy of the Court, as they considered there were extenuating circumstances connected with the case.
