Ashurst Notes
♦ (FROM OTTR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The survey party under the charge of Messrs Ashcroft and Lowe have cut the main road line from the Feilding Small Farm settlement end out to the Pohangina river. When Mr Lucas was in Wellington he interviewed the SurveyorGeneral to ask when this block would be finished and ready for drawing. He said that it would be ready about June. Now that the surveyors here put the main line through, it is likely to he ready then. A disinterested party who rode through the line desenbes it as being a splendid block. The outlet at Pohangina is at a place called Spadger's rest, well-known to frequenters of the river bed. I am informed there is a survey party on the Onslow block, but do not know the name of the one in charge, The Surveyor-General in answer to a question as to the price of the land said that each section would be valued according to position and quality, and price put on accordingly. This will just abont suit your correspondent on " legalised lotteries," A cricket match is being arranged for Saturday between Buunythorpe and Ashurst.
