Harbor Block Chips
(from our own correspondent.) I am informed that it is to the advantage of shippers of wool, to ship via Wanganm instead as is usually done by way of Wellington. If any of your readers effect a saving by this hint, let them remember that your correspondent is no follower of Eachab. Apples must be very plentiful this season, I have had the pleasure cf sampling the orchard of Mr Stephen Bellve, which, for its size is, I suppose, one of the best in the district, containing as it does many of the finest varieties. Nevertheless, Mr Bellve assured me that he would be pleased indeed to get a penny a pound for them. Mr Ohnstianson, from Jackytown, having decided to shift on to hi 3 property here with his family, is building a five roomed house, for which the tenders closed on Saturday in Palmereton. Mr Andrews, of Colyton, is erecting a handsome residence for Mr H. Bailey, which will be quite an addition to the district. The bachelors of the district have sustained another loss, Mr G. Billet haying joined the ranks of the benedicts, being united to Miss Ghirk, of Birmingham. In common with all who know them, I wish joy and prosperity to the happy pair.
