The Grattan Riggs Company
_j._^ — *~_ — _ . , A fairly good audience greeted Mr' Grattan Biggs and. his talented dramatic company at the Feiiding Assembly Room's last night, when they produced the wellknown Irish drama " Arrah-na-Pogue," one of the very best works of the late Dion Boucicault. In the leading character " Shawn the Post," Mr Biggs quite fulfilled the expectations of the audience, giving a really capital representation of the brave Irish peasant loyer. Miss Maud Appleton as "Arrah" was also very pleasing, her acting being sympathetic and consistent, and her brogue natural. The part of the villain, " MicheaT'Feeney," could hardly have been placed in better hands that Mr Charles Berkeley, who acted -the cringing, cow- j ardly informer, and process-server to tbe : letter. Mr .J. P. , West as, ," Colonel , O'Grady " gave a really excellent impersonation of the Irish " gentleman "; ; while? Miss Maroella Day was pleasing and consistent in 'the *rdle "of Fanny' Power. " Beamish M'Coul," the exile, on whose love and other experiences rests the foundation of the plot, was'*weil sns- : tamed by Mr Robert E. Inman, and Mr Scot Inghs ably acted the rather thankless part of " Major Coffin." The smaller : parts- were well played as follows:— " Oiny Farreli;" Mr R. Daiton ; " Katty. Walsh," Miss Oynthia Carey;. "Sergeant," Mr Laurie Diihbar; "Regan," Mr T. Thorpe; and " Patsy," Mje A, Rose. In the course of the piece ' Miss Cynthia Carey sang very sweetly " The Wearing I of the Green."
