(PEE UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION). Dunedin, December 15. Constable Willis has succumbed to influenza. Upwards of 1200 names have been added to the Wellington electoral roll during the last few days, the total number on the roll now being about lU.OOO. Nominations for the vacant seat in the House of Kepresontatives for the Wellington constituency will be received on or before 7th January, and the election tnkes place on Friday, the 15th. The Chief Justice gave judgment in Chambers to-day in the case ot Pearce v. Public Trustee, argued at Wanganui. The question was as to the construction of the will of the late Mr Pearce, his widow having brought an action to recover from the Trustee one-sixth of the ' income of the estate, which he had paid to testator's daughter, who has since come of age. His Honor, howeyer, de» cided that under the will the mother was not now entitled to receive the one- sixth in question, and that it was properly paid to the daughter.
