The Hon. Mr Ballance moved a resolution removmg'Mr It. C. Hamerton from his office as Public Trustee. Captain Eussell very much doubted that the House had power to remove Mr Hamerton from his office under the present conditions. The Hon. Mr Ballance moved the second reading of the Payment of Mem* bers Bill. The Hon. Mr Bryce mored that theBill be read that day six months. The amendment was lost on a division' by 33 to 24,. The second reading was carried^ on a further division by 33 to 22. . „
