The Manchester Rifles had a good muster on. Thursday night, over forty officers and men being present. After a. smart drill of aa hour, < aptain Pleasant* stated that he hoped before the next par-, ade, which would take place on the 6fchc instant, to have the proposed alterations . in the barracks completed. The drill hall and orderly room would then be more comfortable, and* they won. Id be able to have a fire during the winter evenings. Arrangements were being made to obtain a suitable supply of single-sticks, boxing- " gloves, dumb-bells, a horizontal bar, &c, - the expense of purchasing which the . corps would be asked to authorise at their next meeting. Vol. Petheaek was good . enough to offer to hold a class for the in- - struction of recruits one or two nights awe ;k, at from 7 to 8, an offer which was , gladly accepted. Captain Pleasants paid a well-deserved compliment ot le men on the progress they were making. The parade was then dismissed. N
