The ball was certainly the most brilliant affair of the kind that has ever taken, place in Feilding. The hall was tastefully decorated with flags, while the stage* was nicely fitted up as a drawing-room, every arrangement conducive- to. comfort and elegance being made' under the> skilled management and supervision of Bro Sherwill. The supper, which wasprovided by P.M. Bro P. Thompson, was most excellent, everything that the most fastidious or exacting could require was> provided, and served in the best style. The Feilding String Band was engaged to- ' play for the occasion, but at the last moment declined to fulfil their contract owing to some misunderstanding as to where they should be placed in the hall. No real inconvenience was experienced by this, because two players (cornet and piano) were obtained from ' Palmerston, and satisfied everyone with the musi& - they provided. Several of the ladies, played extras and contributed thereby much to the pleasure of the assembly.' About 50 or 60 couples were present; and dancing was kept up until about S o'clock ' this morning.
