Birmingham Notes

• (fbom oujr own coebespondent.) Mr Mirabeau is going to open a photographic studio on his section on ■ Mcßeth's line. I have seen some of, his cabinet portraits and views, and they speak volnmes for Mr Mirabeau. as a first-class photographer. We wish him every success in his new undertaking. Mr Palmer, in the Apiti Block, has* disposed of his section of land to Mr A. Mcßeth at a very satisfactory figure. The roads into the Apiti Block are in a very bad condition indeed. The poor pack horses are to be pitied struggling through the mud with, heavy loads. Mr Anyon, the baker, is to be seen, with his pack horses going into they Feilding Snjall Farm Block twice a, week, ani tie settlers seem to appreciate it very much as it is a great convenience .to have the bread delivered, at their a m >s. Miss A. Lowes has collected th* large sum o £25 towards the building fund of the Wesleyan Church. I think Miss Lowes deserves very great praise indeed for her energy in the* matter. If we had a few more youngs ladies who would do likewise we> should very. soon be able to build a grand church free of debt, which I think all churches should be. Miss Lowes also t aYes a great interest in the Sunday school, and on Sunday ; last she presented eich scholar with :% large ilium nated text card, ;^acht bearing a verse of Scripture. . The children seemed to be very much, pleased with them, Mr P. Nesdale is making great strides on Eis section, by having a fence erected and planting a largenumber of ornamental and fruit trees.. There has been a snpw storm again,, it puts us in mind of the Old Country; ": winters.
