Mr Seddon's Northern Tour

LP"CK PKITKD PUESB ASSOCIATION. ' Thames, May 5. The Hon R. J. Seddon, Minister of Mines, was entertained at a banquet this •evening. There was a very large attendance, and tlie gathering was a great success. In replying to the toast of his health,' Mr Seddon expressed himself highly pleased with his visit to the Thames, tbe first he had ever paid to u\ He dealt at some length with the question of the incidence of taxation, and announced that the Government were determined on tbe repeal of the property tax, believing that it was the wish of the majority of the people that owners of " large estates should be made to bear a greater share 'of the financial burdens of the Colony than at present.
