William Connor Magee D.D., -son of .the Jate Rev. -John Magee, vicar St Peters's, Drogheda, and grandson of Archbishop Magee, of Dublin, was born at Cork 1821. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin. Became Hon. Canon of Wells • "Cathedral, and was created D.D. 1859. Appointed Precenter of Clogher and to -the living of Enniskillen 1864, and Dean of Cork in the s^nie year. Consecrated 'Bishop of Peterborough 1868. Dr. ' 'Magee was not only one of tbe strongest .members ofthe episcopal bench, but also •one of the most eloquent speakers in the ;Hbuse of Lords. As a preacher his utterance always attracted public at: tention, as he was both epigrammatic and lucid.
