" THE CATEGORY OF FOOLS."

TO TRE ED/TOR OF TBE STAB. Sir, — I was amused on reading your local anent that interesting newspaper proprietor and his categorylbf fools. Do you not think he should head the list of fools with his own name, or take a fresh sheet and add ass to fool, and place it under that heading in capitals, if he expects that men with hearts, heads, and interests in the world, should support his i paper that persistently insulted their T intelligence and feelings, and did its best to disappoint their hopes in the late election contest. Papers and parsons should not give public expression to their political y*ews if they are not prepared to lose the support of those who differ from them in poJitics. It is not merely that their man did not win that riles them, but that perhaps all that they hold precious in politics has been reviled by his papar, and their man not over well treated by it! And if the names of those who stopped their paper were published it would be found that they were all men who have a strong sense of right, men who owe no man anything— in short, the salt of the electorate. I believe that the paper referred to is the Rangitikei Advocate; if. not I beg pardon, and though I have not stopped mine, I trust that Mr Arkwright's supporters will continue enthusiastic, keeping their " lights burning," else they will degenerate into mere human effi<nes letting adverse papers do their political thinking for them. We should never rest .satisfied till we have a paper in the district to voice our views, and support our man at next election. We owe our children the duty of placing in their hands — for they will soon be electors papers that lead the race onwards, proclaiming the advancing gospel of righteous laws and law makers; discarding the gabble of changeless, unprogressiveConservative apes ; and let us do it.— -I am > &°., Twinkle.
