At the inquest on the body of John Mcßae, who was run over and- killed yesterday, the evidence showed ribhafr the deceased was a native of Prince Edward Island, about 60 years of age. He had been a digger, but of late was a Bushman. The. only relative known ig a < nephew, supposed to be in Auckland. £ vefdipt of accidental death was returned. A Mrs Bell, residing at Pine Hill, waa so seriously injured to-night by ,her clethes catching fire that her life is des*. paired of She dropped asleep at the fireside, and a log fell and set her clothes on .fire.. . . ' A four year old son of Chernoj, hotel keeper at Arthur's Point, has been p. isv.'i'd by, eating strychnine which be ob! ained in a chest of dra- er , , <- hbistchvbch, November 12. A.weman named Ellen Hay,. aged 50, was found unconscious- in the Aaclunatisation Gardens to-day with a bottleand cup, showing traces of carbolic acid, by her si^e. She was taken to the Hospital, but is not expected to live through* tha night. She had been in bad health and. low-spirited for some time. Wellington. Thi* Day; A seaman named Alfred Wezner while engaged in painting the funnel of. -the Duke of Buckingham the: rope broke .and. he fell to the deck breaking his thigh and fracturing his skull. He was taken tothe hospital and died shortly afterward*. A man named Anthony Kaiser, was found dead under a fallen tree to-day on his rfecion at Tukoekara, near Pahiatua*. He was bushfelling by himself, and i* supposed to have been dead a fortnight.
