The President of the United States has forwarded presents to the value of 5000 dollars, as a recognition of the bravery displayed by the Samoans during ih9 storm when the American and German war vessels were wrecked in Apia Harbour. From Apia news has been received that one of Mataafa's men was imprisoned for stealing spirits, but 200 of his comrades broke into the gaol, and, overpowering the gaolers, rescued the prisoner. The Wolf has sailed from Apia for Jalint, for the purpose of taking the de posed King Malietoa, whom Germany lias released, back to Samoa. Brisbane, July 4 The remains of a hnnatm body found SO miles from Charleville. have bee i identified as those of Mr A. G Fitzheroert, who in January last, started to walk . from Advale to Cbarlcville, and was not since heard of. On the bottom of a panmkin, found near the body wiis etratched the following words: — "Write S. Fitzherbert, Wanjranui, and tell him to provide for wife and children."
