(per united press association.) New TLYuouiH. T.iis Diy. A sudden death occurred this morning. Mrs W. J. Honeyfield, wife of a storekeeper at Moturoa, was found dead in her bed lying face downwards. An inquest will be held. Thames, July 5. Mr F. C. Dean, Town Clerk since the formation of the Borough, was arrested to-day on a charge of defalcation of the accounts in four sums specified amounting to £35. Bail was accepted in two sure ties in £50 and self £100. ArcKiiAND. July 4. The Auckland unemployed held a niaetmg to-day, when 200 persons were present. It was decided to telegraph to the Premier, asking for relief works. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board at a meeting to-night carried by a majority of one vote a motion urging that it is not desirable that the Hospital and Charitable Aiil Bill should become law. The recent seizure of cases of drapeiy samples, from a Home firm to their colonial agents, by the Customs authorities, is alleged to be owing to the ignorance of the importers of the fact that Customs duties were leviable on the gross instead of the net amount of the value. The matter has been referred to the Commissioner of Customs in Wellington. Oam.uhx. . T uly 5 A child, 18 months' old, a son of Mr McGregor of the Eveline slaughtering works, was drowned in a creek. The child was taken out of the water three minutes after it was missed, but animation could not be restored.
