The Manchester Rifles will parade for inspection by Lieut. Col. iStapp on Friday the 10th instant. The election of Captain Pleaiants to the command of the corps has been confirmed by the Minister of Defence.
Colonel Pitt, in a letter to Colonel Stapp, referred in very flattering terms to the manner in which Captain Skerman, of the Marton Rifles, and Captain Trimble, of the Hawera Rifles, carried on their duties. Each of these gentlemen acted as Majors at the encampment. In connection with the Easter Encampment, a meeting of officers was held in Nelson on the 29th ultimo (says the Nelson Mail).
