The object is to pro* pagate and defend protestant doctrines ; maintain the principle of civil and religious liberty and unite the protestants oE all denominations in one common cause against the errors of Popery and infidelity ; to promote the return of Protestant men of principle to parliament ; to press the claims of the Bible on public recognition ; and resist whatever tends to religious ineaualitv.
