Frozen Meat

The following letter which is addressed to the editor of the Hawera Star is of interest to our readers. Snt, — With reference to the fall in price of New Zealand beef, allow me to state that this is caused bj the farmers at home rushing their fat cattle (now being taken off the grass) into the market, owing to the comparative failure of the turnip crop on account •of the wet season ; and further by enormous shipments from U.S. and Canada, ' before the season closeß, November being the roughest month in the Atlantic Ocean. Live cattle -cannot be profitably shipped after October. I may also say that the agricultural editor of the Glasgow Herald predicted this temporary drop, and he also predicted that frozen beef will be 6dto 6£d per lb before May and June. — I ami &c,

W. E. Wright.
