Mahakipawa Goldfields

(Times' Correspondent.) Havelock, October 18. • I visited CuUenvilie to-day. ;: A number of diggers are going over to Cawte's leasehold ground, near Shaw's, i Gully, on the north side of the Mahakipawa water; S. and H. Bill got 330z on Monday and Tuesday. The prospectors are on good gold. ; HenryPope and party did well last week. There are two pair-horse wagonettes running between The Grove and Cullenvilie to meet every steamer. They ars owned by Darvill (of-Master-ton) and Morrison (of Carterton); Am alteration is sadly needed in the postal arrangements, as a letter leafing: Blenheim on Friday does not reach Cullenvilie until Tuesday. Mr Mundy from the West Coast, is putting hup an addition to Mrs Dickson's house. The building of the Grand National Hotel has been commenced by Watson, of Blenheim. The contract is £500.

There are a large number; at the diggings who are not doing much: Those who are doing well at borne hao> better remain there.

VVanoanui, October id*.

Mahakipawa diggers, who returned to-day, are dissatisfied with the results

(Poet's Correspondent,) Havklock, October 18

The only news worth recording is very encouraging concerning the reefs. The stone taken from the Waikukaho, resembling much the Thames quartz, is exceptionally rich. On the development of the reefs chiefly depends the future of the district. Reports of alluvial finds may be looked for on Saturday or early next week.

Horaann and party have obtained a pound weight of gold for two days' work this week. • • -
