At Caulfield this morning, Malua displayed his old brilliancy, completely running over Carbine in a mile and a half spin. Spade Guinea covered the Cup distance in excellent style, Stanley, Crown Brand, and Ne?rmaster also did good work.

At Flemington this morning, ;Whakawai did a splendid gallop over theMelbourne Gup diptance in 3min.46sec, Speculation on the Caulfield Cup ia becoming very exciting. Cardigan has been heavily backed down to 10 to 1. Bothwell and Maggie have been scratched. ;
For the V.E.O. Derby Alpingtoa and Ghainshot have been scratched,, and for the Melbourne Cup Alpingtonv Cbainshot, and Exchange are also scratched. v v^; : _
"Maxim" sends us the following tips for the Caulfield Cup, to be run; to-lay r — f'harmer 1, Plutarch 2, Dick Swivller^ 3. Cardigan aud Menotti next best.*
