London Wool Sales
By Electrio Telegraph. — Copyright [ PER UNITED PRESB ASSOCIATION. | ' London. September 18. The wool sales opened to-day. Ten thousand bales were offered, but the wool was inferior in selection, onethird coming from New South Wales and one fifth from the Cape. The attendance was large, but bidding was irregular. Good merino shows a higher tendency ; faultry sorts were weaker, and crossbred underwent no change. The total amount available for the present series is 230,000 bales The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following telegram from their London office, dated 18th instant : — Wool — The sales opened today at about the level of last series. For faulty scoured merino and coarse scoured crossbreds the market is slightly weaker. The attendance of both Home and foreign buyers is good, and competition is fairly active. The sales comprise 312,000 bales ; 38,000 bales have been taken to the manufacturing districts direct.
