(PEB UNITED PRKBS ASSOCIATION.) Chbistchuhch, July 23. The Mount Magdala Asylum for fal* len women was consecrated yesterday afternoon by Bishop Grimes. Over 2<K)O people were present, and the collection realised about £200 in cash, besides promises. There are now 40 penitents in the Asylum. Dunkdin, July 23. A young man named Jas. Douglas, a shepherd at Mr A. D. Bell's Shag Valley Station, Dunback, was killed on Saturday. His horse took fright, and Douglas, mounting another went after it. It is supposed that he came into collision with a post of a fence, as he was found lying dead with his neck broken. Gisbottbnk, July 23, Thomas Bradmall Smith was commit* ted for trial to-day for obtaining food refreshments, and lodging from the Albion Hotel on false pretences, representing he was a moneyed squatter and owned a large run at Wairoa. He lired in high style, and gave champagne parties on these representations.
