! The Manchester Rifles paraded for inspection and drill last night, and as it was known fines would be inflicted on all absentees, the attendance was much better than it has been for some time. Pleasants and Kirton were in command, and Sergt.-Major Macmillan drilled and instructed the company for two hours in manual and firing exercises and company drill. He was very well satisfied with the progress made bj the recruits. The -next parade will be held on Friday, the 20th inst,, when Lieut.-Oolonel Stapp will inspect the corps.
