The cable repairing, steamer Eecorder has buoyed both ends of the old cable at a distance of eight miles from each end It is now thought that communication will be restored in the course of a few hours. The work has been retarded owing to bad weather. The steamer " Meyer has arrived with a batch of English cables, which, are now being for-' warded. ■
