The Awahuri Land Case

-—+. In the Wellington Appeal Court on Saturday last argument was begun in the appeal case Alex. McDonald appellant v Takana and others respondents, before their Honors the Chief Justice, Mr Justice Williams, and Mr Justice GUlies. The case was an appeal against a decision given by Mr Justice Richmond in *he Supreme Court, Wellington, on December 16th, deciding the ownership of a block of land held by the apellant, a Maori chief, in the Awahuri district, in favor of the respondent Maoris; Sir Robert Stout and Mr Bell were engaged by the appellant and Mr Skerrett and Mr Thompson for the respondent. The hearing of the case occupied the whole of yesterday.
