Two men named Guretzsky and Monteith were drowned in the harbor to-day, through the upsetting of their boat in a squall. Melbourne, May 28. The Government have received intimation from the Indian Government that 950 horses are required for India at an average price of £53 each, that sum to include the cost of delivery hi India. . Sydney, May 28. At a meeting of the Maritoto Mining Company to-day, the syndicate declined to accept any recoupment for their outlay. The money will be returned to the shareholders to-mor-row. The Rabbit Commission has reached Silverton, where experiments hare been made with the disease discovered by Drs Butcher and Ellis, The Commission were greatly impressed with the effectiveness of the disease as a rabbit destroying agent. ■ This Day. The Government have decided to obtain the views of the various provincial stock boards throughout the colony before taking any definite steps with M. Pasteur's remedy for destroying rabbits.
