A young man, named John C, March, formerly of Napier, and at present on a visit to Feilding, was pat shooting on Saturday afternoon last ' in company with .several friends. • Night coming on, he became separated from his companions, : and being a i stranger to the country round about Mount Taylor, he lost bis "bearings." After wandering far .and wide brer '< hills and gullies he eventually mad© ; the Halcombe railway station on Sunday morning at three o'clock, where he rested till daybreak. A settler in Halcombe. kindly furnished him with a substantial breakfast, and.afterward put him on the road for Feilding, . where he arrived on Sunday afternoon none the worse for his outing. He 1 took his troubles philosophically, and managed to bag a couple of hares on his homeward journey. His friends, were somewhat alarmed on account of his prolonged absence, and on Saturday night and early. on Sunday morning search parties/ comprising Messrs James, Hubner, Tan-ant, Streeter, and Curtis, were out on the hills seeking him, and one of the party (Mr Otto Hubner) kindly rode through to Halcombe, to prosecute the search there, but the. opportune return of the wanderer, as stated above, terminated the labors of the search party. Mr Muroh desires us to thank those who so warmly interested themselves in his behalf .
