The Government intend to introduce a Bill providing for the payment of coroners'juries, and to give coroners discrete iouary power io empanelling juries of five, six, nine, or twelve, Melbourne, April 19. There was a very narrow escape of asenons col ision between the new P. and O. bteamer Oceaas and the Bteamer Casino in the Bay early this morning. Particulars have not been allowed to transpire, but it is known that a panic was occasioned, and that the passengers rushed on deck in their nightdresses. Volger, a bookmaker, who was forcibly ejected from the course at the last meeting has recovered £25 dameges and costs against tne Victorian Amateur Turf Club. He claimed LSOO damages, ihe judge in awarding damages, said that the Club had no power to eject the plaintiff, who refused to abstain from betting, j and was thereupon ejected by force.
