Wheat. —An Australian February shipment of 7000 quarters has been sold at 33* 3d. 5000 quarters April- Ai ay shipment has realised 3d more. A ttenmer cargo, March Shipment, has been sold at 32s 6d. Lord Hartington was today presented with the freedom of the City of London. In the course of his speech he declared that tbe extension of local government to Ireland would be more useful than any dream of impossible independence or the autonomy of a subordinate province. Mr Goschen, speaking at Croydon, eulogised the readiness sh<wn by tbe Australian colonies lo bear their share of the cost of defending the Empire and to maintain an Australian navy. Mr Gos« cben expressed the opinion that the House of Commons would liberally and satisfactorily respond to the expectations of the colonies in the matter. Vienna, April 18.
