Champion Sculling Race
By Electric Te'egraph. — Copyright. JPBB DMTKD PHEBB ASSOCIATION, i Sydkky, February 12. The sculling ruee for t&H) aside and the Championship of the World between P. Kemp and T. Clifford took place yesterday af ternoo i on the Parramutta river. A strong breeze wi»s blowing against the men. There was a large attendance of the public. Kemp was the farorie, 7to 4 being laid on him. He was the first to grip the water, and before many lengths had been rowed assumed the lead, which he held to the finish, winning easily by six lengths. Time, 23min. 47Jsec. During the race one of the excursion steamers collided with and sank a steam launch. The launch had fifty people on board, all of whom were precipitated into the water, Peel, the engineer, being drowsed. He is reported to have sank immediately the accident occurred. Another one, who is believed to hare been on board, is missing, Peter Kemp has accepted Hunlan's challenge to row for the championship and £600 a- side.
