FEILDING F-. FOXTON. The match Feilding v. Foxton was played on the ground of the latter on Saturday last. Foxton kicked off, and the ball was well returned by Parr. The play was very fast on both sides. Broughton made a good run, and secured a try for Feildiug, but failed to kick a goal as the try was too near the touch line. Shortly afterwards Gregory secured a second try which Broughton converted into a goal. Tke play at this stage of the game was pretty even, when Carr with a good dribble and a short run secured a third try for Feilding. This was disallowed, the umpires not being appealed to. In the second spell, by the best run of the day, Parr secured a try. The match thus stood one goal and two trys for Feilding, against nil for Foxton. The Feilding forwards played a good game. Parr, Broughton, Roe, and Manning were in good fettle. Parr played particularly well, following the example of Mr A. D. Thomson in many respects. The Foxton forwards were all that could be desired, but their backs were very weak. The following are the players selected to compete with the Palmerston men in the match to be played on the Oval on Saturday next : — Full back, Hoe ; half backs, Parr, Broughton, and Saywell ; quarter backs, Manning and C. Halcombe ; forwards, Gregory (captain), Fetch, Carr, R. and J. Whisker, Wilds, Kitchea, C, Bray, and Evans.
