Mr Allen Scott was entertained at a banquet last night. Mr Brodie Hoare, in responding to tbe toast of the Midland Railway Company said he had been most favorably impressed with the resources of the colony, and considered the colony far better suited to Englisli immigrants than either Canada or Australia. He warned colonists against floating bogus companies in the London market, and although he considered New Zealand was a favorable field for tbe employment of capital, yet it must be above suspicion.
