The Ministerial Crisis in England
By Electric Telegraph. — Copyrihgt. (BBUTEHS* TKLKGBAMS.) London, January 9. The Standard states that Mr Gladstone is willing that the powers of hia proposed Irish Parliament should be confined to dealing with certain specified subjects.
It is announced that Lord Cross has re-considered his decision to resign, and has consented to retain his position as Secretary of State for India. It is stated that the Earl of Carnarvon will succeed Mr Edward Stanhope as Secretary of State for the Colonies.
The Russian Press is jubilant at the exposure of the weakness of the Marquis of Salisbury and his Cabinet.
Mr Chamberlain has expressed his intention of adhering to the policy adopted by Lord Hartington in connection with the crisis.
The leaders of the Unionist-Liberal party are strongly in favor of the inclusion of Mr Goschen in the Cabinet.
