Feilding Borough Council

The usual fortnightly meeting of the ; Council was held at the councilchambers on Tuesday evening last. Present — the. Mayor (Mr S. Goodbehere) and Councillors Fowles, J. Bartholomew, Worsfold, P. Thompson, Lyne, and Poster. MINDTES. The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting and' of the special meeting, re installation of the Mayor (Mr S. Goodbehere), were read and confiruied. correspondence. ITrom the Treasury Department, re loan of £1600 under tbe Government Loans to Local Bodies Act. From. J. P. Maxwell, acknowledging receipt of a letter from the late Mayor re the railway timetable. From James Rose, asking .hat the permission of the Council be granted him to use lire arms for the purpose of destroying dogs and geese wanderiug on his property. From the Property Tax Commissioner, advising the Council that the voucher for £173, being advance on subsidy for the year, had been passed for payutent. Proposed by Cr Worsfold, seconded by Cr Bartholomew, That the Finance Committee' _ accounts be passed for payment. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Worsfold, seconded by Cr P. Thomson, That the Public "Works Committee's report be adopted. — Carried. Proposed by Cr P. Thomson, seconded by Cr Bartholomew, That the dug tax be 10s per head within the . Borough for the ensuing year. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Worsfold, seconded by Cr'-P. Thomson, That applications he willed for the appointment oi Dog < Tax Collector, the remuneration to bu 1 2s per dog, applications to be sent in by the next meeting of the Council. — Carried. j Proposed by Cr Worsfold, seconded by Cr Fowles, That the Borough ollices be closed from December 2-1 to January 4, 1887.— Carried. The Mayor explained to the Council the result of the deputation that hud waited on the Hon. the Minister for Public Works earlier in the day, re railway time table, &c. His Worship considered the results on tho ( whole were very satisfactor}*. A further list of defaulting ratepayers (to be sued in the R.M. Court) was drawn, after which the Council adjourned.
