New Train Services
We are in a position to state that it has been finally determined that the Wellington-Manawatu Company's line shall be opened for regular passenger traffic on Wednesday the Ist December, And that a new timetable will thea come into operation on the line between New Plymouth and Foxton. A through passenger and mail train will be run daily each way betweeu Wasgattui and Wellington, and biweeldy between Wellington and New Plymouth^ : 'To shorten the time occupied on the journey, as much as possible these trains will only stop at the principle stations^ The train -w ill leave -Wellington at 7°' a.m., reaching Wanganui at 3.40 p.m., and leave "Wanganui 4it 1 .20 p.m., arriving in Wellington at 1.0 p.m. On Tuesdays and Fridays the train from Wellington ■will run on to New Plymouth, arriving thereat 10 p.m., and if train will leave New Plymouth at ,7 a.m., reaching Aramoko in time to connect with the mail train from Wanganui. With a steam service running in conjunction xvith. the through trains to and 7 from New Plymouth, it will be possible, under favourable circumstances, to make the journey between Wellington and Auckland under thirty hours. The establishment of this through service will necessitate some alterations in the local trains to and from Wanganui. —Chronicle.
